J'habite dans NoPo

You may just have seen me, Bobbi, Claire or one of our friends wearing this t-shirt around Portland and wondered WTF?  Well, give me your ear and I'll explain all.

It started when I got Bobbi a Gocco machine from Japan, she made postcards and other arty things and everything came out superbly except the damn
t-shirts. No I tell a lie, Claire's came out fine but mine looked all patchy.  I was left somewhere between miffed and disappointed.

But I still wore it around town even though it was less than stellar, and to my surprise people would walk past and go "cool shirt" and "nice" which is, er, nice.

I liked the design idea, namely 'J'habite dans NoPo' and am stubborn by nature, so decided to work out my angst and have a bunch made to give to my NoPo friends.  Oh and before you ask, no it isn't available in stores, its uuuuuuuunique!

Buddy Mason armed with Adobe Illustrator, laid out the graphics and added a cute house to complete the design, thanks dude.

What does 'J'habite dans' mean?  French for: I live in.

What does 'NoPo' mean?  I live in North Portland AKA NoPo.

Put it all together and what have you got?  Yes that's right boys and girls, I live in North Portland.  Which is a truism.

Why the French text?  Well it's an attempt at humor and tries to highlight the fact that NoPo is anything but pretentious or French speaking.  Maybe it works, maybe not but I'll let you good people be the judges of that. 

At the end of the day it amuses me and that's half the battle I find.
